Were you voted “Most Likely to Succeed” in high school? Not me! Thank God. That’s way too much pressure to live up to.
Also, what does that even mean? Do you wanna take a little QUIZ to find out?
I’ve come up with a list of 25 ways you can succeed at life. Because I recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of my high school graduation. (Y’all, how are me and my classmates THAT OLD? From my Facebook stalking, we don’t look that old.)
Take the quiz
Here’s how the quiz works.
Below are 25 ways you can SUCCEED in this game called life. Both worldly ways and goodly ways. You score ONE POINT for each worldly way you’re winning at life and TWO POINTS for all the goodly ways.
Ready? Let’s do this!
Worldly success
Remember: you get ONE POINT per item from this category.
1. You’re a C-suite exec or VP.
2. You make 6 figures.
3. You’ve already got a half-million dollars saved for retirement.
4. You’ve visited 10 or more foreign countries.
5. You traveled to Hawaii for fun last year.
6. You’ve got a second home, yacht or airplane.
7. You have rental property.
8. You drive a DeLorean because Michael J. Fox is your hero.
9. You buy fresh lemons simply to freshen up the garage disposal in your kitchen sink.
10. You recently upgraded from a tiny house to a McMansion, complete with moat to keep out bad guys.
11. You hobnob on Zoom with governors and celebrities.
12. You have 15K Insta-friends.
Goodly success
And now you get TWO POINTS per item.
13. You give 5-grand annually to charity.
14. You participate on at least one community board.
15. You have 5 friends you can count on in a crisis.
16. You’ve survived a global pandemic.
17. You write a mom blog.
18. You’ve read 12 books in the last 12 months.
19. Your pet, partner, or (non-teenage) children light up when you walk into the room.
20. You look forward to waving at your neighbors.
21. You hate cats.
22. You’ve called your mother at least once in the past month.
23. You can think of 3 things that made you smile today.
24. You’ve got a safe place to sleep every night that’s free of cats.
Bonus points
For gee whiz, I’ll grant you FOUR POINTS for this final, bonus item. If you’re math challenged, that means you can score FORTY TOTAL POINTS in this game called life.
25. You can quote 5 lines from Forrest Gump, the epic movie that launched 25 years ago.
How did you score? What do you care about most? Is it cats?
What would you add to this list of ways you’re most likely to succeed at life?
And how will you answer the dreaded question when your classmates catch you Facebook-stalking them, “Hey, what’ve you been up to the last few years?” Because all the ups and downs and celebrations and failures and lessons and successes of a life lived hard and well can’t easily be summed up in a series of social media posts.
P.S. I scored a 29. Because I don’t actually hate cats.
